Why watch a number?
Most of the best vanity numbers have been locked up for decades by carriers who don't know they spell anything. But things move: blocks get reassigned, carriers change hands, numbers get released. And brand-new area codes open every year. When 738 launched in the Los Angeles area in 2024, thousands of great word numbers came into reach that simply did not exist the year before.
When something changes on a number you care about, I email you. I've been in the vanity number business since 1995. I run TollFreeNumbers.com, LocalVanityNumbers.com, and a bunch of related sites. 800watch is the one place where I watch the monthly carrier data on your behalf.
How it works
Every month, the North American phone industry publishes which carriers hold which blocks of numbers. I compare this month's data against last month's and look for the changes that matter: a block just got assigned to a carrier, a carrier swap happened, a disconnect freed up a range of numbers.
If a change matches a number you're watching, I email you on the 15th with what happened and what to do next. You get one summary covering everything you watch, never a pile of separate emails. Every three months I send a quick heartbeat so you know I'm still on it, even when nothing has moved.
